Avoiding misoperation: common misconceptions and correction methods for the use of the swing pipe rain test device

Share:

Hanging pipe rain test deviceIt is a key equipment for testing the waterproof performance of products by simulating natural rainfall environments, and is widely used for reliability verification in fields such as electronic devices, outdoor lighting fixtures, and automotive parts. However, in practical operation, due to insufficient understanding of equipment principles or processes, some typical misunderstandings often occur, which not only affect the accuracy of test results, but may also damage equipment or samples. The following are common problems and corresponding correction methods.

Misconception 1: Neglecting the calibration of the swing pipe angle leads to a deviation in the direction of simulated rainfall

The swinging tube is driven by a motor to swing left and right, simulating rainwater at different incident angles. Some operators did not calibrate the reference position of the pendulum tube before use (such as default pendulum tube vertical downward at 0 °), or did not fix the adjustment bolt after calibration, resulting in the actual swing angle of the pendulum tube not matching the set value during the testing process, causing the sample to not accept the expected rainwater impact angle and the test results to be distorted.

Correction method: Before each experiment, use an angle meter to check the reference position of the swing tube. Use the calibration function provided by the equipment or manually adjust the swing tube bracket to ensure that the angle display value is consistent with the actual swing trajectory, and tighten the adjustment bolts to prevent loosening.

Misconception 2: The mismatch between the rotation speed and flow rate of the swing pipe affects the authenticity of rainfall intensity

The rotation speed of the swing pipe and the water spray flow rate must strictly match the testing standards. The common error is that only the speed is adjusted and the flow valve is ignored, or vice versa - for example, high speed is set to simulate rainstorm, but the water supply flow is not increased synchronously, resulting in insufficient rainwater impact; Or if the flow rate is too high but the speed is too slow, causing the sample to withstand continuous water accumulation instead of intermittent impact.

Correction method: According to the testing standards, clarify the target rainfall intensity, first adjust the flow valve to the target range (monitored in real time through a flow meter), and then calibrate the swing tube speed to ensure that the two work together to achieve the "dynamic impact" effect required by the standards.

Misconception 3: Improper installation or positional deviation of the sample leads to ineffective testing

The sample needs to be fixed at a specific distance (such as 200-300mm) in front of the swing tube to ensure even coverage of rainwater. During operation, problems such as sample tilting, loose fixing clips, or distances that are too close (splashing water rebound interference)/too far (impact force attenuation) often occur, resulting in some areas not being exposed to the effective rain range.

Correction method: When installing the sample, use a special fixture to fix it vertically in front of the axis of the pendulum tube, measure the horizontal distance between the center of the sample and the nozzle of the pendulum tube with a ruler (in accordance with standard requirements), and check the locking status of the fixture (manually shake the sample without displacement). Before testing, manually start the swinging tube to run at low speed and observe whether rainwater covers the entire surface of the sample.

Misconception 4: Failure to drain and clean the equipment in a timely manner after testing, resulting in equipment corrosion

After the rain test, the remaining water in the water tank may contain impurities (such as sediment and chemical additives). If not discharged in a timely manner, long-term retention will corrode the pipeline and nozzle; In addition, residual water droplets crystallize on the swing tube or sample holder (such as in low-temperature environments), which can cause mechanical components to rust or experience motion jamming.

Correction method: Immediately open the drain valve to drain the water tank after the test is completed, rinse the pipeline and nozzle with clean water (especially pay attention to cleaning the blockage of the nozzle small hole), and dry the swing pipe and surrounding components. When not in use for a long time, it is necessary to spray rust proof oil on the surface of the equipment and cover it with a protective cover.

Hanging pipe rain test deviceThe standardized operation should adhere to the three principles of "parameter matching, precise positioning, and timely maintenance" to avoid the above misunderstandings, in order to truly restore the natural rainfall environment and ensure the effectiveness of waterproof test results.
