DESCRIPTION
The glow-wire test is conducted by IEC6 0695-2-10 ~ IEC6 0695-2-13 (GB/T5169.10-2006~GB/T5169.13-2006) "Glowing/hot-wire based test methods—Glow-wire apparatus and common test procedure" and UL 746A and IEC 829. DIN695, VDE0471 and other standards specify the use of flameless ignition source procedures simulation test items.
Glow-wire testerwill stipulate the material (diameter 4mm, Ni77/Cr20±1) and the shape of U-shaped heating wire with a high current heating to the test temperature (200 ℃ ~ 1250 ℃) 1min, after the prescribed pressure (1.0N) vertical scalding test specimens for 30s, depending on whether the test specimens and bedding ignition or holding time to determine the electrical and electronic equipment products. The flammability, glow-wire ignition temperature (GWIT), flammability and glow-wire flammability index (GWFI) of solid insulating materials and other solid combustible materials are determined.
Glow-wire tester is suitable for the research, production and quality inspection departments of electrical and electronic products and their component parts, such as lighting equipment, low-voltage electrical appliances, household appliances, machine tools, motors, power tools, electronic instruments, electrical instruments, information technology equipment, electrical services equipment, electrical connectors and accessories, etc. It is also suitable for insulating materials, engineering plastics or other solid combustible materials industry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Question1:You specified the wire material as Ni77/Cr20. Is this compatible with the standard requirement for Ni80/Cr20, and what is the exact diameter tolerance?
Answer1:
Our standard configuration uses a high-purity Ni80/Cr20 (Nickel 80%, Chromium 20%) alloy wire, which is the strict requirement for IEC 60695 and UL 746A. The wire diameter is precisely 4mm ±0.05mm. The U-shape is formed to exact dimensions to ensure consistent contact pressure (1.0N). If you have specific research needs requiring different alloys, we can customize, but our default supply meets all international compliance mandates.
Question2:Your description states a heating range of 200℃~1250℃, but most standards only require up to 960℃. Why the extra range, and how is high-temperature accuracy verified?
Answer2:
The extended range up to 1250℃ allows for advanced research applications and future-proofing beyond standard compliance (which typically maxes out at 960℃ for GWFI/GWIT). For standard tests, our system maintains an accuracy of ±1°C within the 500-960°C range. Temperature verification is performed using a calibrated Type K thermocouple and the Silver Foil Melting Method (961.78°C) as per IEC 60695-2-10, ensuring traceable accuracy for every test run.
Question3: You mention testing everything from "lighting equipment" to "solid insulating materials." Do you provide specific fixtures for different product shapes, or is it only for flat samples?
Answer3:
Our instrument is versatile. For flat material testing (GWFI/GWIT), it includes a standard specimen holder. For end-product testing (like switches, connectors, or household appliance parts per IEC 60695-2-11), we offer a comprehensive set of adjustable fixtures and clamps. These allow you to position irregular shapes securely against the glow-wire tip at the precise 1.0N pressure, ensuring valid results for complex geometries found in motors, power tools, and IT equipment.
