DESCRIPTION
This apparatus is specifically designed to perform Ignition Tests in accordance with the strict safety standards of GB 9706.1-2020/2022 (IEC 60601-1). It evaluates whether the sparks generated by the opening and closing of electrical circuits can ignite specific gas mixtures (such as oxygen-enriched or flammable anesthetic environments), ensuring the Essential Performance and Basic Safety of medical electrical equipment.
Features
1. The equipment shall meet the requirements of Appendix G.7 of GB 9706.1-2020 "Medical Electrical Equipment - Part 1: General Requirements for Basic Safety and Basic Performance";
2. The equipment shall conform to Appendix G.7 of GB 9706.1-2022 standard;
3. The test apparatus comprises an ignition chamber and a contact device. The ignition chamber has a volume of 250 cm³ and is filled with the specified gas or gas mixture. The contact device generates a spark by opening and closing (see Figure G.7);
4. The contact device consists of a cadmium disc with two slots and another disc with four tungsten wires of 0.2 mm diameter; the second disc slides on the first disc. The free length of the tungsten wires is 11 mm. The shaft connected to the tungsten wire disc rotates at a speed of 80 r/min;
5. The shaft connecting the cadmium disc rotates in opposite directions to the shaft connecting the tungsten wire disc. The rotational speed ratio between the shaft connected to the tungsten filament and another shaft is 50:12. These two shafts are insulated from each other and from the equipment frame. The ignition chamber should be able to withstand an internal overpressure of 1.5 MPa;
6. By closing or opening the circuit under test through this contact device, check whether the spark will ignite the gas or mixture under test;
7. G.1 Test bar with diameters of 4 mm and 12 mm, timer/stopwatch, gasket test according to B-b of IEC 60068-2-2 (GB/T 2423.2), force gauge (minimum 100 N), gas pressure gauge (range 0 to 400 Pa), voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, capacitance and inductance meters, test apparatus for oxygen mixtures and flammable mixtures (Figure G.7).
Key Application Areas
1.Medical Device Safety Certification: Essential for laboratories and manufacturers to verify compliance with Appendix G.7 regarding "Protection against ignition of flammable anesthetic mixtures."
2.Intrinsically Safe (IS) Design Validation: Used during the R&D phase to test the energy limits of circuits, ensuring that voltage, current, and components (capacitance/inductance) do not produce incendiary sparks.
3.Oxygen-Enriched Environment Testing: Evaluating the safety of electronic components used in oxygen tents, ventilators, and surgical environments where high oxygen concentrations are present.
4.Material and Component Durability: Testing the reliability of gaskets, contact devices (Cadmium and Tungsten discs), and pressure-resistant chambers under high internal overpressure ($1.5 \text{ MPa}$).
